Solid gold is therefore combined with other alloys and is then measured as 10, 14, or 18 carat. This combination can be understood as a fraction; 10 carat is measured 10/24 or 416 parts gold per 1000, 14 carat is 14/24 or 583 parts of gold per 1000, and 18 carat is 750 parts gold per 1000 parts.
All of our Irish jewelry is submitted to the Assay Office of the Company of Goldsmiths at Dublin Castle. It is here that all articles of precious metal are tested and hallmarked to make sure they conform to the legal standards of purity.
